Blockchain campus to be opened in the Netherlands

According to de Vlokskrant, the Dutch government has supported the idea of creating a blockchain campus, where financial and IT companies would be developing the block chain based apps.

Project opening is scheduled for this September.

It will be led by Willem Vermeend – the economist, expert in financial technologies and previously the chief financial specialist in the country. In addition, his task would involve image promotion – make the Netherlands look like a country supporting the innovative technologies.

According to Mr. Vermeend, industry representatives are not quite aware of what their blockchain industry colleagues are engaged in, while the technology has such a huge potential.

Establishing the campus is not the only governmental initiative in the Netherlands related to blockchain technologies.  Two weeks ago, Central Bank of the country issued the results of two experiments on modeling the Bitcoin system progress.
