Sberbank of Russia became a member of the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA) international association, writes RBC. It is a non-profit research organization with the main task of studying Ethereum blockchain implementing methods in various business areas.
Enterprise Ethereum Alliance was founded in early 2017. The first participants were leading digital and financial corporations, such as Microsoft, Intel, Credit Swiss and one of the big four accounting firms – Deloitte.
Sberbank is the first banking structure of the Russian Federation to join the EEA. Prior to this, the only company representing Russia in the consortium was Qiwi payment system.
Sberbank representative Lev Khasis noted that EEA membership has become an important part in implementing bank's technological development plan and will let the structure access advanced technologies and international experience of blockchain implementing.
